Due to the lethargy within our economy, I’m going to try to tie food reviews with other things you can do when dining out per Ted’s recommendations, so to maximize your dollars consider making day trips out of breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Located inEl Cajonat1185 E Main St, you’ll find Antique Row Cafe. Now this is a real dive to look at from outside. I found the dive attitude continued inside but with a nostalgic 50s flavor. If you retire your elegant dining cap outside, this place is enjoyable with the diner flavor done well. You’ll find breakfast is served all day while they are open (Monday – Sunday: from 6:00 a.m – 3:00 p.m.). Antique Row Cafes are numerous inSan Diegobut they are independently owned and operated so while there are similarities between them all, I assure you this one’s a good one for good food and service.
They have a large menu with a huge breakfast menu and a nice set of lunch foods to choose from. They do hot and cold sandwiches, salads, pastas and burgers and soups. Their sweets are good too with fruit pies, great cinnamon rolls, and ice cream sodas offered in good style. They even offer a senior menu, but you’ve got to hang 65 years in the closet to qualify for that menu. The portions are big and prices are reasonable.
NowEl Cajonisn’t theMeccafor culture thatSan Diegois, but I did find plenty to do in or aroundEl Cajon. I’m listing a few places you can go to make a good day trip out of Antique Row Cafes breakfast or lunch.
